Kitchen Staple Chocolate Chip Cookies

So, here’s another chocolate chip cookie recipe. Which is fine with me! Homemade chocolate chip cookies are always welcomed in our home. After going to our local farmer’s market, our son, picked out a cookie that was the size of his head. We shared the cookie and it was delicious! So, I had to come home and make cookies. These are made with shortening because I had it in our pantry. The remaining ingredients are also pantry and refrigerator staples. You will most likely have the ingredients on hand.

Each cookie is scooped out to 1/4 cup. Which means they are big cookies. They were so good while still warm, and the chocolate chips still gooey.

Happy Baking!

Here’s what I did:

I creamed the shortening and both sugars. I added in the vanilla, milk and eggs – whisking until nice and fluffy. I stirred in the baking soda, salt and flour. Once the ingredients were fully combined, the chocolate chips get stirred into the cookie dough.

I scooped out 1/4 cup of dough for each cookie (I was able to get 17 cookies). I placed the scooped out cookie dough into the refrigerator for 30 minutes (I cleaned up the kitchen while they chilled).

I baked them in a preheated 325 F degree oven, for 15 – 18 minutes. They’re best, baked fresh.

  • 1 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 – 2 cups chocolate chips (I used 2 cups milk chocolate chips)

Step One: Cream together the shortening, sugar, and brown sugar. Add in the vanilla, milk, and eggs – whisking until nice and fluffy (about 2 minutes).

Step Two: Stir in the baking soda, sea salt and flour. Once all the ingredients are combined add the chocolate chips.

Step Three: Scoop out 1/4 cup of dough for each cookie. Chill dough for at least 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 325 F degrees – bake for 15 -18 minutes. Cool on baking sheet and transfer to cooling rack to completely cool.

Note: Best on the same day when baked.
